Windows 8
Change invites confusion and despair amongst many computing individuals and the most recent wrench thrown into the mix is Windows 8.  It has been a long time since a launch of an operating system has caused such an uproar in the computing world like Windows 8 has done.

Here are some Windows 8 shortcuts that should help you better navigate your new operating system using the Windows Key:

  • Windows key shows the new Start screen
  • Win + Page Up / Down
    Moves full-screen app to secondary monitor
  • Win + L
    Locks Windows
  • Win + Q
    Shows all installed apps
  • Win + W
    Search for settings
  • Win + J
    Switch between apps
  • Win + Left / Right arrow
    Moves desktop programs in that direction, or to another monitor
  • Win + F
    Search for files
  • Win + Tab
    Switch between open applications
  • Win + Z
    Display the App Bar
  • Win + I
    Settings sidebar (control panel, network, volume, brightness, notifications, etc
  • Win + P
    Monitor options, also useful for connecting an external monitor or projector
  • Win +
    Type a keyword to search an application
  • Win + . (period)
    Snaps the current app to the right side of the screen
  • Win + . (period) + Shift
    Snaps the open app to the left side of the screen
  • Win + D
    Return to the desktop and will also restore and minimize open all open windows
